HANGZHOU, March 10 (Xinhua) — Direct flights between Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang Province, and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) resumed over the weekend after being temporarily suspended due to escalating tensions in the Middle East.
Before flights resumed, the last flight between the two cities was on February 28, and flights were suspended on March 1 due to disruptions at Dubai Airport.
Sun Guohai, head of ground handling at Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, previously announced that Dubai-based carrier Emirates will begin operating a limited number of flights between Dubai and Hangzhou starting Sunday – one roundtrip flight per day.
The first flight after the resumption of flights, EK310, departed Dubai on March 8 at 4:28 a.m. local time and arrived in Hangzhou at 3:57 p.m. Beijing time. The return flight, EK311, departed Hangzhou on March 9 at 12:28 a.m. Beijing time and arrived in Dubai at 4:52 a.m. local time.
Of the three main Middle East destinations served by Hangzhou Airport – Dubai, Cairo in Egypt and Doha in Qatar – flights to Cairo are currently operating as normal, with Emirates being the only airline to resume flights on the Hangzhou – Dubai route.
Hangzhou Airport Authority said it will continue to closely monitor developments with airlines and promptly inform passengers of any possible changes to flight schedules.
