Beirut, March 9 (Xinhua) — The death toll from Israeli strikes in Lebanon since March 2 has risen to 486, with another 1,313 injured, the Lebanese Health Ministry reported on Monday.

The ministry's statement said the dead and wounded were recorded between dawn on March 2 and midday on March 9, with Israeli strikes continuing in several areas of the country.

Hezbollah announced it had launched rockets from Lebanon toward the Jewish state on March 2 for the first time since the ceasefire was declared on November 27, 2024, prompting the Lebanese government to announce a ban on the movement's security and military activities.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army launched what it called an "offensive military campaign" against Hezbollah, carrying out intensive airstrikes in many areas of Lebanon and conducting ground operations in the border area.
