BEIJING, March 9 (Xinhua) — The third plenary meeting of the fourth session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) was held in Beijing on Sunday.
Wang Huning, member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC, attended the event.
High-ranking officials from the CPC Central Committee and the State Council of the People's Republic of China were invited to hear opinions and proposals.
During the meeting, 14 members of the CPPCC National Committee spoke on a wide range of issues.
CPPCC National Committee member Lian Yimin stressed the importance of promoting the integrated development of urban and rural areas to achieve substantial progress on the path to achieving common prosperity.
CPPCC National Committee member Chen Xingying said Taiwan's future lies in China's reunification. She called for joint efforts to ensure the peaceful development of cross-strait relations and promote cross-strait integrated development.
CPPCC National Committee member Shi Ronghuai pointed out the need to strengthen the foundation of the "one country, two systems" policy, improve social governance, and address the concerns of the people.
