Havana, March 8 (Xinhua) — Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel criticized the summit convened by the United States in Florida, calling it a "reactionary and neocolonialist" event.

"The small, reactionary and neo-colonialist summit in Florida, convened by the United States," obliges the governments of some countries in the region "to agree to the deadly use of US military force to solve their internal problems and establish 'order and tranquility' in their countries," M. Diaz-Canel said on Saturday on the social network X.

He added that the meeting represented “an attack on the proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace” and “an attack on the aspirations for regional integration.”

During the Shield of the Americas summit, US President Donald Trump reportedly called on the governments involved to use military force to combat drug cartels and offered American support, including missile strikes.
