Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko congratulated Russian women on International Women's Day.

"On the eve of International Women's Day, President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin noted that our women always have a special approach to their work. Indeed, you not only care for your loved ones and create an atmosphere of trust and mutual understanding, but also shape the country's future, making a significant contribution to the development of sports, tourism, education, science, and youth policy. I congratulate all Russian women on this holiday and thank you for your work! I wish you good health and great personal happiness," Dmitry Chernyshenko emphasized.

The Deputy Prime Minister added that women make up a significant part of the education and mentoring system. In our country, there are over 1 million female school and college teachers, and over 130,000 female university professors.

Women scientists in Russia are actively promoting research and participating in projects related to the Decade of Science and Technology. According to HSE data, approximately 130,000 women were employed in Russian science in 2024. This represents almost 40% of the total number of researchers—a relatively high figure compared to some other countries. For example, women account for 30.6% of researchers in France, 29.6% in Germany, 23.7% in the Republic of Korea, and 18.5% in Japan. Traditionally, the proportion of women researchers is highest in the humanities, medical, social, and agricultural sciences—over 56%.

The Deputy Prime Minister also noted the contribution of Russian women to the popularization of domestic sports.

"In Russia, 33.5 million women regularly participate in sports. Many of them achieve greatness and become professional athletes. Their contribution to the industry's development is also significant—more than 190,000 women work in sports," said Dmitry Chernyshenko.

He also spoke about women's participation in the development of tourism and hospitality. 1.5 million women work in hotels and catering establishments. On average, approximately 70% of college and university tourism graduates are women. And among those pursuing additional professional training as tour guides, travel agents, or in hotel management, they account for 84%.
