Washington, March 8 (Xinhua) — US President Donald Trump on Sunday threatened that Iran's new supreme leader "won't last long" without his approval.
"He's going to have to get our approval. If he doesn't get our approval, he won't last long," Trump said in an interview with the American television channel ABC News.
“I don’t want people to have to go back to this in five years and do the same thing again, or worse, allow them to have nuclear weapons,” the US president added.
On Sunday, Iran's semi-official Mehr news agency reported that Iran's Council of Experts had made the final decision on Iran's Supreme Leader. Trump had previously stated that he should be personally involved in the selection of Iran's next leader.
