Moscow, March 8 (Xinhua) — A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck off the coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula on Sunday, the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported on its Telegram channel.
The earthquake was recorded at 17:08 GMT. The epicenter was located 237 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in the Pacific Ocean, with the epicenter at a depth of 47.9 km.
On July 30, 2025, Kamchatka experienced the strongest earthquake since 1952, with a magnitude of 8.8. –0–
