BEIJING, March 8 (Xinhua) — The concept of a community with a shared future for mankind is like a beacon illuminating the path forward for humanity, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Sunday.
Wang Yi made this statement at a press conference on the sidelines of the ongoing annual session of the National People's Congress (NPC).
Looking back at history, no matter what difficulties the world has faced, there have always been pioneers striving for ideals and a bright future, he noted, noting that people around the world are increasingly recognizing the truth and value of this concept.
“The enemy of humanity is not itself, but war, conflict, poverty, hunger, and injustice,” Wang Yi pointed out. “Overcoming these challenges alone is impossible.”
Building a community with a shared future for humanity is not so much a beautiful vision as a historical process that requires continuous, collaborative efforts from generation to generation, the Foreign Minister said.
According to him, the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the rise of a large country with a population of 1.4 billion people can in no way be achieved in the old way, when major powers competed for supremacy and territory.
