BEIJING, March 7 (Xinhua) — The second plenary meeting of the fourth session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) was held in Beijing on Saturday.

Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC, attended the meeting.

Fourteen members of the CPPCC National Committee spoke at the meeting.

Huo Jinhua said that China's fundamental technologies with controlled risks are the foundation of national security, stability and continuous innovation, and China should steadily strengthen its research and development efforts and increase investment in these technologies.

To accelerate the cultivation of new growth drivers, Huang Qunhui proposed implementing policies targeted at specific industries and strengthening the leading role of enterprises in innovation.

Xie Dong called for encouraging leading enterprises to increase funding for basic research while simultaneously expanding financial support for technology startups.

Jiang Liping called for efforts to improve policies and measures aimed at improving the well-being of Taiwanese people so that they can enjoy equal access to public services.

Zhou Zhihua emphasized the need to optimize the coordination and distribution of research in artificial intelligence and the use of AI to lead the paradigm shift in scientific research.

Mo Rong called for efforts to help human resources better adapt to the advancement of AI technologies and the needs of industrial transformation and upgrading.

Other members of the CPPCC National Committee spoke on issues such as reform and innovation, poverty reduction, modern industrial system, private sector, Hainan Free Trade Port, education and support for the birth rate. –0–
