HARBIN, March 7 (Xinhua) — The 2026 Ice Super Cup: The third football tournament on snow will be held in Harbin, capital of Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, from March 7 to 9 at the China-SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) Winter Sports Demonstration Area.
This sporting event brought together teams from such countries as China, Belarus, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.
According to the tournament's organizational structure, participating teams are divided into two groups, A and B. Within their groups, they will compete in a round-robin format, facing each opponent once. Following this stage, the playoffs will begin using a direct-elimination system. The competition will begin on Saturday evening with a match between teams from China and Belarus.
Almost 5,000 fans are expected to attend the Super Bowl opening match, and all tickets are already sold out.
A similar snow football tournament was held for the first time in Harbin in 2024. It has become an important platform for promoting exchanges between SCO countries in physical education, sports, and culture, as well as for facilitating the development of winter sports.
The current event was organized by the Heilongjiang Provincial Administration of Physical Culture and Sports with the support of the Secretariat of the SCO China Committee on Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation, the Chinese Football Association, the Foreign Affairs Office of the Provincial People's Government, and others. -0-
