The capital has approved special regulations for the interaction of city services during the spring floods. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing, Utilities, and Public Works. Petr Biryukov.

"Flooding in the Moscow region typically begins in late March or early April, and the necessary preparatory measures have already begun. Specifically, snow accumulation monitoring has been organized, and reservoirs, hydroelectric power plants, and other engineering and resource facilities are being prepared. Currently, the flood situation in Moscow is normal, with no increase in water levels observed," noted Pyotr Biryukov.

To organize joint work, a regulation on interaction between JSC Mosvodokanal, the Federal State Budgetary Institution Moscow Canal, and the State Budgetary Institution Gormst was signed, and agreements were concluded with the capital Department of Civil Defense, Emergencies and Fire Safety, as well as the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the city of Moscow.

The documents define the responsibilities of city services, establish a clear flood response plan, and provide for a 24-hour exchange of operational information on the evolving hydrological situation, water volumes, and flow rates. These measures will help synchronize the work of organizations and ensure a smooth transition through this period.

According to regulations, the Moscow Canal must allow meltwater to pass through the city limits, taking into account all lateral inflows, by opening the Karamyshevskaya and Perervinskaya dams. Flooding of coastal areas must also be prevented.

Pyotr Biryukov recalled that Moscow's water supply is based on rivers and reservoirs in three regions: Moscow, Smolensk, and Tver. Water for the capital region is supplied by 15 reservoirs within two systems: the Moskvoretsko-Vazuzskaya and Volzhskaya.
