In 2025, six new main routes opened in Moscow. These routes improved transportation accessibility for residents of 24 districts of the capital, according to the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry. Maxim Liksutov.

"Over 97,000 trips are made on weekdays on six new main routes that connect numerous districts of the city. Residents and visitors to the capital can reach their destinations without transfers, improving comfort. The expansion of the route network improves transport accessibility in the city, in line with Sergei Sobyanin's directive," said Maxim Liksutov.

Trunk routes provide convenient travel throughout the capital. They are the most frequent and popular routes on the city's surface transport network. They connect districts directly and cover several metro stations and lines, the Moscow Central Circle (MCC), and the Moscow Central Diameters (MCD). Trunk routes complement the existing rail network and improve the efficiency of transportation in the capital.

The opening of new main routes has opened up additional travel options between districts. More than 20 electric buses on route M74 provide direct connections between the Veshnyaki district and Ryazansky, Kuzminki, Lyublino, and Maryino, while residents of the Filevsky Park and Dorogomilovo districts can travel directly to Khoroshevo-Mnevniki and Shchukino using route M23.
