Anatoly Vasilyevich Podoprosvetov, an employee of the Kolomensky Plant, received the "Bright Past" People's Award for his significant contribution to the development of domestic locomotive engineering! The award ceremony took place on January 26 of this year at the Naum Orlov Drama Theater in Chelyabinsk.
The "Bright Past" People's Award was established by bard Oleg Mityaev 22 years ago and has held federal status since 2010. The award's winners are outstanding natives of the Chelyabinsk region.
Anatoly Vasilyevich Podoprosvetov is the chief locomotive designer at the Kolomna Plant, serving in this position for 25 years, from 1994 to 2019. He was one of the creators of the TEP80 diesel locomotive, with its unique undercarriage, which set a speed record of 271 km/h (still unbroken).
Under Podoprosvetov's leadership, the Kolomensky Plant developed the first domestic mainline DC passenger electric locomotive, the EP2K; the TEP70BS passenger diesel locomotive, which supplied power to train cars; the 2TE70 freight diesel locomotive, capable of hauling trains weighing over 6,000 tons; and, in collaboration with diesel engine specialists, developed modular, transportable, multi-purpose power plants for the oil and gas industry.
