BEIJING, March 5 (Xinhua) — China on Thursday unveiled major development goals for the 2026-2030 period in a government work report submitted to the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress.
According to the report, China intends to keep GDP growth within a reasonable range over the next five years and set its annual targets according to specific conditions.
This will lay a solid foundation for doubling per capita GDP by 2035 compared to 2020 levels and reaching the level of average developed countries, the report says.
To ensure innovative and “green” development, the average annual increase in R&D expenditure nationwide will be more than 7 percent, and the carbon intensity of GDP as a whole will have to be reduced by 17 percent in the period 2026-2030.
According to the report, China will also increase the share of value added from key digital economy sectors in GDP to 12.5 percent, and the average life expectancy of the population to 80 years.
To ensure the effective implementation of the goals and tasks of the 15th Five-Year Plan, China is putting forward a total of 109 major projects in six areas, such as guiding the development of new-quality productive forces and ensuring and improving people's wellbeing, the report said. -0-
