BEIJING, March 5 (Xinhua) — China will continue to implement a more proactive fiscal policy in 2026 and plans to widen its overall budget deficit by 230 billion yuan (approximately 33.29 billion U.S. dollars) compared to last year, according to a government work report submitted to the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress on Thursday.
According to the report, China plans to maintain a budget deficit of around 4 percent of GDP in 2026, bringing the total deficit to 5.89 trillion yuan. General public budget expenditure will reach 30 trillion yuan for the first time, an increase of approximately 1.27 trillion yuan from 2025. -0-
