Jerusalem, March 4 (Xinhua) — The Israeli Air Force shot down an Iranian Yak-130 fighter jet over Tehran as part of the ongoing US-Israeli operation in Iran, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Wednesday.
The IDF called the incident a "historic event" due to the fact that it was the first time in history that a fighter jet of this type was shot down in combat.
According to Israeli state television channel Kan TV News, the last time the Israeli Air Force shot down an enemy fighter was in 1985, when an Israeli F-15 shot down two Syrian MiG-23 fighters during an air battle over Lebanon. –0–
