Abu Dhabi, March 2 (Xinhua) — The United Arab Emirates' Ministry of Defense said the country's air defense systems intercepted numerous ballistic and cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on Monday during the ongoing military conflict. The attacks killed three people and wounded dozens.
As indicated in the department's statement, earlier on Monday, 9 ballistic missiles, 6 cruise missiles and 148 UAVs were successfully intercepted.
According to the ministry's statement, since the beginning of the attacks, 174 ballistic missiles have been launched from Iran toward the UAE, 161 of which were destroyed, and 13 fell into the sea. Additionally, 689 drones were detected, 645 of which were intercepted, and 44 fell within the UAE. Eight cruise missiles were also destroyed.
The Defense Ministry confirmed that the attacks resulted in collateral damage: three people were killed and another 68 were slightly injured.
