Beijing, March 3 /Xinhua/ — The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) issued a statement on March 2 regarding the situation surrounding the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The SCO member states express serious concern over developments in the Middle East and military strikes on the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The SCO member states consider the use of force unacceptable and advocate the resolution of existing disputes exclusively by peaceful means based on dialogue, mutual respect, and consideration of the legitimate interests of all parties in accordance with international law and the principles of the UN Charter.

The SCO member states emphasize the need to ensure the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of Iran, and advocate for all parties to exercise restraint and refrain from actions that could aggravate the situation.

The SCO member states urge the United Nations and the UN Security Council to take immediate measures to counter the undermining of international peace and security.

The SCO member states express their sincere condolences to the families of those killed in the attack and declare their solidarity and support for the Government and people of Iran. –0–
