Beijing, March 2 (Xinhua) — China calls on all parties to cease military operations to prevent further escalation of the conflict, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said Monday, commenting on the US-Israeli attack on Iran that killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and Iran's retaliatory missile and drone strikes against US military targets in the Gulf Cooperation Council and elsewhere.
The United States and Israel carried out military strikes on Iran without UN Security Council approval, which violates international law, Mao Ning emphasized at a daily briefing for journalists.
