JERUSALEM, March 1 (Xinhua) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that the Israeli Air Force is carrying out strikes on Tehran with "increasing intensity" and they "will only intensify in the coming days."
Speaking in a video message from the roof of the Kiriya military headquarters in Tel Aviv, Netanyahu said he had held a brief meeting with senior military and security officials, giving instructions regarding the next phase of the operation.
"Yesterday, we assassinated [Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali] Khamenei. Along with him, we killed dozens of high-ranking officials. Our forces are now striking at the heart of Tehran with increasing intensity, which will only intensify in the coming days," Netanyahu said.
He emphasized that the operation is being carried out with the support of US President Donald Trump and the American armed forces.
According to him, "this combination of forces allows us to do what I've been striving for for 40 years," namely, a "decisive" strike against Iran. "This is what I promised, and this is what we will do," Netanyahu added.
