Baku, March 1 /Xinhua/ — Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said in a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi on Sunday that Azerbaijani territory cannot be used by any state against neighboring and friendly Iran.
According to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, during the conversation, the parties discussed the situation resulting from military actions in Iran and the escalation in the region.
The head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry informed the Azerbaijani side about the current state of affairs and the measures taken by Tehran.
J. Bayramov expressed deep concern over the escalation of the situation in the region and conveyed his condolences over the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as well as over the civilian casualties.
The parties expressed hope for a speedy cessation of hostilities and a resolution of the situation solely on the basis of the norms and principles of international law through dialogue and diplomacy. –0–
