Muscat, February 26 (Xinhua) — Iranian and US delegations demonstrated "unprecedented openness to new and creative ideas and solutions" on Thursday during the latest round of proximity talks on Iran's nuclear program, according to a statement from the Omani Foreign Ministry published on the social media platform X.
As noted in the statement, Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud al-Busaidi met with US Presidential Envoy Steven Witkoff and US President's son-in-law Jared Kushner on Thursday in Geneva, Switzerland, as part of ongoing indirect Iranian-American talks.
It is specified that the meeting considered the views and proposals of the Iranian side, as well as the responses and requests of the American negotiating team regarding key elements of Iran's nuclear program and the guarantees necessary to achieve the desired agreement, taking into account all technical and supervisory aspects.
According to the head of the Omani Foreign Ministry, intensive and constructive negotiating efforts continue, and negotiators are open to new and innovative ideas and solutions, which creates conditions conducive to progress and the achievement of a fair agreement, supported by sustainable guarantees.
On Wednesday evening, as part of the current round of talks, the Omani diplomat met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Geneva. –0–
