Beijing, February 25 (Xinhua) — China expects the United States to take an objective and reasonable stance on the implementation of the first phase of the China-US economic and trade agreement, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said on Wednesday.
As the official representative noted, China calls on the United States not to shift blame to others and, especially, not to take advantage of the situation to create problems and provoke.
Earlier, US Trade Representative Jamison Greer said the United States would continue to investigate China's compliance with the Phase 1 trade agreement between the two countries under Section 301 of the US Trade Act, and that the US side could resort to tariff measures.
"If the American side persistently pushes forward with the relevant investigation and, under this pretext, introduces restrictive measures such as customs duties, the Chinese side will take all necessary actions to resolutely protect its legitimate rights and interests," warned an official representative of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce. –0–
