Moscow, February 24 (Xinhua) — The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has identified the man who detonated an explosion near a traffic police car at Moscow's Savelovsky Railway Station on Tuesday night. He is a 22-year-old native of Udmurtia, Investigative Committee spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko announced on Tuesday.
"During the course of the investigation… the identity of the suspect, who died at the scene of the crime near Savelovsky Station, was quickly established. He was a 22-year-old native of the Udmurt Republic," stated S. Petrenko.
It was established that the man traveled by train from St. Petersburg to Moscow on February 22. "Investigators from the Moscow Investigative Committee and law enforcement officers have determined his route within the Moscow region," added S. Petrenko.
According to her, the investigation is currently establishing the suspect's social circle, as well as the reasons and motives for his actions.
According to the Russian Investigative Committee, on the night of February 24, officers in a patrol car near Savelovsky Station Square were approached by a man, causing an explosion. As a result, one police officer was killed. Two officers were injured and hospitalized. The suspect also died.
