London, February 23 (Xinhua) — Former British Ambassador to the United States Peter Mandelson has been detained on suspicion of abuse of office, London police announced on Monday.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said officers detained 72-year-old P. Mandelson at his address in Camden on Monday and took him to a London police station for questioning.
"The arrest followed search warrants at two addresses in Wiltshire and Camden," a spokesman said in a statement, adding that police could not provide further details to "preserve the integrity of the investigation." –0–
