Dushanbe, February 23 (Xinhua) — Tajik President Emomali Rahmon congratulated service members and veterans on the 33rd anniversary of the country's armed forces, the presidential press service reported on Monday.
In his address, the President noted that the armed forces are one of the main bulwarks of modern Tajik statehood and a reliable shield in protecting the country's independence and freedom, guarding its borders, and ensuring stability and security for society.
The head of state recalled that during the civil war of the early 1990s, the creation of a national army became a vital necessity. He explained that the army was formed under difficult conditions, acquiring combat experience and fortification. The armed forces, along with other military structures and law enforcement agencies, have repeatedly been tested for loyalty, courage, and valor, ensuring national security and protecting the people.
E. Rahmon expressed gratitude to the military personnel for their conscientious service and stated that the state and people will honor the memory of those who gave their lives to restore constitutional order and defend the Motherland.
The President noted the complex and tense situation in the region and globally, drawing attention to threats from transnational organized crime, including terrorism, extremism, and cybercrime. He emphasized that this requires additional measures to strengthen the country's defense capability and the training of personnel with modern military knowledge and high professionalism.
E. Rahmon expressed confidence that the personnel of the armed forces will continue to fulfill their mission of ensuring state security, protecting peaceful life and the creative work of the people with dignity. –0–
