BEIJING, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) — Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on Monday sent a congratulatory message to Kim Jong Un on his election as general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) at the 9th Party Congress.
In his message, Xi Jinping noted that since the 8th Party Congress, the WPK Central Committee, led by Kim Jong Un, has united and led the DPRK people in their hard work, continuously achieving new achievements in socialist construction.
The re-election of Comrade Kim Jong Un as General Secretary of the WPK once again reflects the high trust and unanimous support of the Party, government and people of the DPRK, Xi Jinping emphasized.
It is very important that the 9th Congress of the WPK was successfully held at a decisive stage, when the activities of the party and the country are entering a phase that builds on the past and opens up the future, he added.
