BEIJING, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) — China Railway Corp. said Monday that Feb. 23, the last day of the nine-day Spring Festival holiday, is expected to see the highest volume of return passenger travel, forecasting up to 18.5 million trips on the country's railways.
According to the corporation, passenger traffic on the country's railways reached nearly 18.3 million on Sunday. On Monday, 2,297 additional trains will operate to meet the overwhelming demand.
On Monday, major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou saw both a huge influx and outflow of passengers.
Railway services in various areas have taken measures to ensure uninterrupted rail service.
