Istanbul, February 21 (Xinhua) — Turkish law enforcement officers detained 346 people on Saturday during a large-scale anti-drug operation across five provinces, the country's Gendarmerie General Command reported.
As reported, 14 special forces units, supported by dog handlers, simultaneously carried out raids in 93 locations in the southern province of Adana, the central province of Nevsehir, and the northwestern provinces of Balikesir, Çanakkale, and Bursa.
During the operation, more than 80,000 narcotic pills, 11 kg of various narcotics, a large number of unlicensed pistols and rifles, as well as drug paraphernalia and precision scales were seized, the command said in a statement.
“The suspects were under technical and physical surveillance, and their criminal activity was individually documented,” the gendarmerie stated.
The operation is part of Turkey's ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and dismantle organized crime networks across the country. –0–
