BEIJING, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) — China's National Meteorological Center issued a blue alert on Sunday due to cold weather.

According to the center, from February 21 to 23, a cold front will lead to a significant drop in temperature by 6-10 degrees Celsius in the northern and northeastern regions.

It is noted that in some parts of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region (North China), Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning provinces (all three in Northeast China), the thermometer may drop by 12-14 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologists have called on relevant agencies to step up preparations and implement preventative measures to protect agricultural crops and aquaculture from the cold.

China has a four-tier weather warning system, with red representing the highest level of danger, followed by orange, yellow, and blue.
