The project for the major renovation and restoration of the federal cultural heritage site "Residential Building, Late 18th – 19th Century" at 13/2 Novaya Basmannaya Street, Building 1, has been approved. The upcoming work will restore the cultural heritage site to its original appearance: the facades and stucco decoration will be restored, lost decorative elements and color schemes will be recreated, and the roof's configuration will be restored," said Vladimir Efimov.

The building was erected in the last quarter of the 18th century on the corner of Novaya Basmannaya Street and Basmanny Lane. Soon after, it was rebuilt as the main residence of the city estate of Major General Nikolai Vysotsky, the nephew of Prince Grigory Potemkin. From the 1870s until the Revolution, it housed a tenement house. Today, the building serves as an office building and is one of the surviving landmarks that defines the architectural landscape of the Basmanny District.

The objects of protection of a cultural heritage site include the volumetric-spatial composition of the building and the architectural and artistic design of the facades.

As part of the agreed-upon work, specialists will restore the brickwork of the walls where it has deformed, restore the roof's configuration, and reinforce and partially replace the attic beams. Later structures will be removed from the facades, and the historic window and door openings and architectural decoration of the building will be restored, recreating the color scheme of the late 19th century.

"In addition to restoration, the project includes a number of works to adapt the building for comfortable and safe modern use. For example, the electrical, heating, and ventilation systems will be modernized. The wooden roof structures will be treated with fire-retardant and bioprotective compounds, and lightning protection and anti-icing systems will be installed on the roof," said the Chairman of the Moscow City Committee for Pricing Policy in Construction and State Expertise of Projects (Moskomexpertiza).

The building will also undergo finishing work: walls and ceilings will be repaired and painted, and door and window frames will be replaced.

Earlier, Sergei Sobyanin ordered that restoration work be carried out in the city annually. at least 150 cultural heritage sites.

According to legislation on cultural heritage sites, owners and users of architectural monuments are obligated to preserve their historical appearance. Any work on such buildings must be carried out according to an approved design, with the permission and supervision of specialists.
