NEW YORK, July 29 (Xinhua) — A gunman killed four people and wounded six others in an office building in Manhattan in New York City on Monday evening before committing suicide.
Shane Tamura, 27, opened fire around 6 p.m. /2200 GMT/ and died of an "apparent self-inflicted wound," CNN reported, a story later confirmed by Mayor Eric Adams.
“The scene is now contained and the shooter has been neutralized,” NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said on social media.
According to local media reports, one of the victims was a police officer and the other three were civilians.
The shooter was reported to be from Las Vegas, as a car with Nevada plates registered to S. Tamura was found at the scene. A gun case was found in the car, the New York Post reported.
