Kyiv, February 15 (Xinhua) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, speaking Saturday at the Munich Security Conference in Germany, stated that the United States, in trilateral negotiations, has too often allowed the topic of concessions to be discussed only in the context of Ukraine, not Russia. This was reported on the Ukrainian president's website.
"But frankly, sometimes it seems like the two sides are talking about completely different things. The Russians often talk about some kind of 'spirit of Anchorage,' and we can only guess what they really mean. The Americans often return to the topic of concessions, and too often these concessions are discussed only in the context of Ukraine, not Russia," Zelenskyy noted.
“We sincerely hope that the trilateral meetings next week will be serious, meaningful and useful for all of us,” he stressed.
In late January and early February of this year, two rounds of security working group talks were held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, with representatives from Russia, the United States, and Ukraine. As Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov announced on February 13, a new meeting of representatives from the three countries will take place on February 17-18 in Geneva, Switzerland.
