Munich, Germany, February 14, Xinhua — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, called on China and France on Friday to work together to protect the status and role of the United Nations and prevent the world from returning to the law of the jungle.

Wang Yi made the call during talks with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

Both China and France are independent and responsible major powers, and multilateral coordination is an important feature of their bilateral relations, the Foreign Minister said, calling on Beijing and Paris to address the global governance deficit and support each other's multilateral initiatives.
