BERLIN, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) — Flights resumed at Germany's Cologne Bonn Airport on Friday after a brief suspension caused by a security incident.
At around 6:30 a.m. /5:30 GMT/, airport operations were suspended and security checkpoints were closed due to the incident.
According to an airport spokesperson, flights were suspended for approximately two and a half hours. About 12 flights were affected and delayed, although no cancellations were announced.
According to police, a preliminary investigation revealed that luggage undergoing security screening was handed over to its owner, although it should have been sent for further inspection.
As law enforcement officials noted, it is not yet clear whether this error was caused by the new inspection procedure introduced the day before. –0–
