In the development of the road network in Donbas and Novorossiya, highways connecting the regions and passing through key population centers are strategic assets. In the Kherson region, repairs are ongoing on sections of two such roads: Odesa-Melitopol-Novoazovsk and Kherson-Dzhankoy-Feodosia-Kerch. Their completion is currently 50%, according to Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.

"The total length of the Odesa-Melitopol-Novoazovsk and Kherson-Dzhankoy-Feodosia-Kerch road sections where work is underway is 87 km. These sections are strategically important, as they lead toward the Azov region and Crimea, connecting several southern regions with each other and passing through key population centers. For many years, these highways were in disrepair, and last year, road workers began major repairs on these sections. This will improve traffic safety and mobility, and will generally accelerate the integration of Donbas and Novorossiya into the Russian Federation," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

According to Marat Khusnullin, all work on the sites is planned to be completed by the end of the year.

"The Odessa-Melitopol-Novoazovsk section of the highway will improve accessibility and reduce travel time to the Perekop checkpoint on the way to Armyansk in the Republic of Crimea. During the summer, it is the main crossing for trucks supplying Crimea with food. During the major repairs, road workers laid the bottom layer of asphalt concrete pavement and halfway completed the top layer. After this stage is completed, they will install road signs, bus shelters, and apply road markings," noted Vyacheslav Petushenko, Chairman of the Board of the state-owned company Avtodor.
