Dmitry Chernyshenko's address to the participants of the sixth season of the popular science competition "Science. Territory of Heroes"
The final of the sixth season of the popular science competition "Science. Territory of Heroes" took place on the Bauman Moscow State Technical University campus. Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko addressed the participants during the final event.
"I'm pleased that every year more and more schoolchildren and students participate in the competition—a total of approximately 117,000 people participated. The prestige of scientific professions is growing in Russia. I'm sure many of you want to dedicate your lives to science. The competition is just the beginning of a long journey. Thanks to the national project 'Youth and Children,' launched by our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, today vast opportunities are open to you. Advanced engineering schools and youth laboratories are operating, the 'Priority 2030' program is in effect, exciting events are taking place as part of the Decade of Science and Technology, and much more. At the President's direction, a constellation of world-class campuses is being created across the country. Competition winners will receive additional points when applying to prestigious universities. They will also have the opportunity to complete internships at the country's leading research centers and receive grants from competition partners," noted Dmitry Chernyshenko.
The sixth season of the competition was one of the largest yet, with over 27,000 participants. This season, the competition was held in several thematic areas: "Energy and Numbers" (physics and mathematics), "Biochemistry of Discoveries" (chemistry and biology), and "Science in Life" (general education).
"The 'Science: Territory of Heroes' competition is an effective mechanism for engaging young people early in university research. Russian universities don't just accept talented applicants; they create a modern research environment for them: youth labs, participation in cutting-edge projects, and interaction with industrial partners. It's important to us that every participant in the competition sees the university as a space of opportunity—a place where ideas are transformed into tangible scientific results," said Minister of Education and Science Valery Falkov.
The winners in the Energy and Numbers category were:
1. Arseniy Kudryavtsev, Gelendzhik
2. Daria Saperova, Protvino
3. Mikhail Petrukhin, Karpinsk
Places in the "Biochemistry of Discoveries" direction were distributed as follows:
1. Alla Lykova, Lipetsk
2. Maxim Grishkov, Voskhod village
3. Pavel Morozov, Tambov
Following the finals in the "Science in Life" category, the participants took the following places:
1. Evgeny Bogdashov, Zavolzhye
2. Maxim Zapara, Krasnoznamensk
3. Ekaterina Ivanova, Novoaltaysk
The competition winners will receive internships at the country's largest research centers. All finalists will also receive additional points for admission to MISiS University, the Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, Tomsk Polytechnic University, and Bauman Moscow State Technical University. The competition's partners—Beeline, PhosAgro, and Rosatom—awarded cash grants to the winners and runners-up for research projects. The finalists also received diplomas, gift certificates for equipment, and other prizes from the competition partners.
The competition is supported by Russia's national projects and is part of the "Science to Win" initiative of the Decade of Science and Technology. The platform geroi.nauka.rf features articles about the scientific achievements and discoveries of Russian scientists, as well as video tours of scientific organizations. The project is designed for schoolchildren and students and aims to foster interest in the natural sciences, popularize scientific knowledge, and support young talent.
