BEIJING, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) — In January 2026, the bilateral trade volume between residents of the border areas of China and Russia in Manzhouli City, north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, was 19,400 tons in quantity and 75 million yuan (about 11.67 million U.S. dollars) in value, up 480.07 percent and 420.63 percent, respectively, compared with January 2024, according to a statement posted on the official website of the Manzhouli City Government.
The volume of this type of trade reached a new historical high and exceeded the first quarter of 2025 in both quantity and value terms.
Since the beginning of this year, the railway section of the trade development zone of this category in Manzhouli has been constantly expanding the types of imported agricultural products and actively developing the processing of imported products, and the automobile section is focusing on the creation of a center for the display and sale of imported goods in order to expand their distribution channels.
Local authorities also implemented the “border area residents’ mutual trade cooperative” model, promoting the construction of a comprehensive service platform to enhance the participation of border area residents in the development of such trade.
In January 2026, this trade model increased the income of border residents in Manzhouli by approximately 700,000 yuan, benefiting nearly 10,000 people.
In the future, the China-Russia Border People's Trade Zone in Manzhouli will make efforts to process imported products and promote the integrated development of processing, investment and trade, and will expand the range of trade and improve its quality so as to promote the development of border areas and increase the income of their residents. -0-
