Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev attended a meeting of the Coordinating Committee for the Support of Environmental and Nature Conservation Projects. The meeting was chaired by First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Kiriyenko and took place at the 13th All-Russian Nature Festival "Primordial Russia."

The meeting summarized the results of the 2026 Presidential Fund for Nature competition and identified 157 winning projects. Among them were the "Save the Kashtakovsky Route" project at Krasnoyarsk Stolby National Park, projects to conserve endangered cetaceans in the Russian Far East, and the restoration of the Transbaikal Pallas's cat population, among others. Supported initiatives will be able to launch on March 1.

"The activities of the Presidential Fund for Ecological and Nature Conservation Projects truly provide significant support to the industry. Federal funds allocated for grants amount to one billion rubles annually. However, the number of environmental projects needs to be scaled up. To this end, we are working to increase the extra-budgetary component. I would like to point out that businesses are eagerly responding to proposals for cooperation and voluntarily allocating funds to support projects. These funds began flowing into the fund in December 2025. Joint efforts between the state and society to implement environmental initiatives allow us to enhance their impact and thereby contribute to ensuring Russia's environmental well-being. Therefore, we will continue to support them, maintaining the principle of transparent, objective, and fair project evaluation," said Dmitry Patrushev.

Last September, the grantees of the first competition began implementing their projects, and in December, they met with the Deputy Prime Minister to discuss the interim results of their work. Dmitry Patrushev announced that such events will continue. They provide an opportunity to identify areas for further growth and enhance the effectiveness of their collaboration.

A total of 939 environmental initiatives from 81 regions were submitted for selection this year. Project ideas were presented by nature reserves and national parks, non-profit organizations working in environmental protection, as well as individual environmental teams and concerned citizens.

The Presidential Fund for Ecological and Nature Conservation Projects was registered on March 3, 2025. It was created in accordance with a decree of the President of Russia. The main grant areas include the protection of rare and endangered animal species and their habitats, biodiversity research and monitoring, information and educational projects to protect wild animals, unique and relict ecosystems, and Red Data Book plant species. The total grant fund annually receives 1 billion rubles from the federal budget.
