Moscow, February 9 (Xinhua) — Russia is ready to resume direct flights to the United States, provided several restrictions on Russian airlines are lifted. Dmitry Yadrov, head of the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia), announced this in an interview with the Rossiya-24 television channel on Monday.

"With regard to the United States, first and foremost, we need to approach this issue in such a way that we weren't the ones imposing flight restrictions. We adopted a reciprocal measure after our colleagues in the United States imposed restrictions on Russian airlines. And when air travel resumes, we must, of course, first and foremost be guided by the lifting of these restrictions, the fact that our aircraft arriving there won't be impounded, and that all necessary aircraft servicing will be provided," D. Yadrov pointed out.

The US closed its airspace to Russian aircraft in March 2022. At Russian-American talks held in Riyadh in February 2025, the Russian side proposed resuming air traffic. Last week, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced it had submitted proposals to the US for restoring relations.
