KYIV, July 29 /Xinhua/ — Since the beginning of the armed conflict with Russia, Ukraine has secured the release of 6,412 people from Russian captivity, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Telegram on Monday.
He specified that 5,857 prisoners were returned to Ukraine as part of exchanges with the Russian Federation. Another 555 people were released outside of these procedures.
V. Zelensky also emphasized that, thanks to the agreements reached on June 2 in Istanbul during peace talks between Kiev and Moscow, more than 1,000 Ukrainian servicemen were able to return home.
The President pointed out the need to continue prisoner exchanges with the Russian Federation. –0–
