BANGKOK, February 8 (Xinhua) — The Phumchaithai Party (Pride of Thailand) has taken a significant lead in the House of Representatives (lower house of parliament) elections in Thailand, with more than 50 percent of eligible votes counted, according to preliminary results released by the country's election commission on Sunday.

Acting Prime Minister of Thailand, Phumchaithai Party leader Anuthin Chanvirakun announced at a press conference that his party had won Sunday's elections.
