Moscow, February 7 (Xinhua) — The Chinese Embassy in Russia held a gala reception for Russian friends in Moscow on Wednesday to mark the upcoming Spring Festival (Chinese Spring Festival, the traditional Chinese New Year according to the lunar calendar). Representatives of the Russian Presidential Administration and government, scientific and educational institutions, public organizations, and the media attended.
In his speech, Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui declared 2025 to be a very fruitful year for Chinese-Russian relations. "Relations between China and Russia in the new era have become even more confident, stable, and strong," he quoted Chinese President Xi Jinping as saying.
Zhang Hanhui emphasized that 2026 will be a landmark year: it will mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of strategic partnership between China and Russia, as well as the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness, Friendship, and Cooperation. Furthermore, the two sides will announce the launch of the Years of Education, the ambassador added.
Ivan Melnikov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma and Chairman of the Russian-Chinese Friendship Society, noted the strength of bilateral cooperation. "Our partnership has a solid foundation: respect, equality, and a willingness to think decades ahead. Such reliable pillars are especially valuable when everything around us is in flux: they help us avoid impulsive reactions and calmly build trust and expand practical cooperation," he said.
Gennady Zyuganov, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), emphasized the importance of the partnership between the two countries. "Any country develops successfully if it has a leader and a real program. I must congratulate the Communist Party of China, which has a deep and broad perspective on all global processes and is doing everything to further strengthen our strategic partnership," he said.
The event included master classes in Chinese calligraphy and paper cutting, as well as interactive demonstrations featuring robots.
