BEIJING, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) — An electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft developed by the Ninth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation successfully completed its maiden flight in Chongqing, a municipality directly under the central government, on Friday.

According to the developer, the electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicle features a new configuration that combines the design of aircraft and automobiles, and can easily switch between ground and air modes to meet different transportation needs.

An eVTOL aircraft consists of wings, a cockpit, and landing gear. The air module can carry two passengers at an altitude of up to 3,000 meters, reaching speeds of up to 150 kilometers per hour. The ground module, equipped with an all-electric intelligent landing gear, has a range of over 300 km.

As a multi-functional low-altitude flight vehicle, the eVTOL platform can be used in areas such as transportation, logistics, and emergency support, the developer noted. -0-
