KATHMANDU, February 6 (Xinhua) — At least eight people were killed in a road accident involving a bus carrying wedding guests in Baitadi district in western Nepal, Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar Rae told Xinhua on Thursday.
According to him, the accident occurred at around 7:55 pm local time in the Purchaudi municipality when people were returning from a wedding.
Sixteen injured people were taken to local medical centers, and another 32 people in serious condition were sent to better-equipped hospitals. According to D.K. Rae, the newlyweds were in another vehicle and were unharmed.
Police noted that the cause of the accident is currently being investigated. According to preliminary reports, there were approximately 60 people on the bus at the time of the incident.
