Moscow, February 5 (Xinhua) — The Chinese Embassy in Russia held a gala reception for Chinese students in Moscow on Wednesday to mark the upcoming Spring Festival (Chunjie, the traditional Chinese New Year according to the lunar calendar). Chinese and Russian diplomats, teachers, and students attended the reception.

In his speech, Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui stated that, thanks to the strategic guidance of the two countries' leaders, educational cooperation has become a pillar of bilateral relations and is actively developing. He noted the active work of the joint Chinese-Russian Institute for Fundamental Research.

Zhang Hanhui emphasized that China and Russia have created the world's largest higher education network through inter-university associations and are constantly expanding academic exchanges. The number of students studying on a reciprocal basis in the two countries remains significant.

"These young people are more than just students: they are ambassadors of friendship between our peoples and are shaping the future of Chinese-Russian relations, contributing to the development and prosperity of both countries," the Chinese ambassador added.

Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Konstantin Mogilevsky, in turn, noted that, amid growing global competition for breakthrough scientific results, Russia and China are strengthening bilateral cooperation.

He noted that the two countries' leaders have established Years of Russian-Chinese Cooperation in Education. "The joint agenda will be extensive; it is necessary to give impetus to all areas of bilateral cooperation and educate citizens about the educational opportunities offered by Russian and Chinese universities," K. Mogilevsky emphasized.

As part of the event, representatives of Chinese and Russian students presented a creative program, performing songs, dances, instrumental folk music, and wushu demonstrations.

This year, Spring Festival will be celebrated on February 17th. –0–
