BEIJING, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) — China firmly supports Cuba in safeguarding its national sovereignty and security, and opposes unreasonable interference by external forces and any attempt to deprive the Cuban people of their right to existence and development, said Wang Yi, a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Foreign Minister of the People's Republic of China, in Beijing on Thursday.

Wang Yi made the statement during talks with the special envoy of the Cuban Communist Party and the government of this country, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, who holds the posts of member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The situation in Latin America is currently undergoing complex and profound changes, Wang Yi noted, adding that upholding justice has always been an unchanging principle of China's foreign policy. -0-
