BEIJING, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) — China has seen a continuous decline in serious crimes and a marked reduction in the number of crimes committed, which affects people's sense of security, Miao Shengming, deputy prosecutor general of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP), said in Beijing on Thursday.

Speaking at a press conference, Miao Shengming noted that the number of criminal cases in China has decreased to the lowest level in the past 25 years.

From January to November 2025, the country's prosecutor's offices reviewed arrest requests for 873,000 people and authorized the arrest of 604,000 people, which is a decrease of 15.6 percent and 12.9 percent, respectively, year-on-year.

During the specified period, prosecutors reviewed petitions to initiate cases against over 1.6 million people and brought charges against nearly 1.3 million people. Both indicators decreased by 19.6 percent and 13.3 percent, respectively, year-on-year. -0-
