Caracas, February 5 (Xinhua) — Venezuelan authorities are investigating the events surrounding the January 3 U.S. military operation that resulted in the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López announced on Wednesday.
Without specifying the nature and scope of the investigation, the head of the military department indicated in his statement that the investigation will allow the country to “study, evaluate and make adjustments” to the plan for the transformation of the National Bolivarian Armed Forces of Venezuela.
The investigation involved "cutting-edge technology," the minister added.
He made the statement on Venezuela's National Dignity Day, which is considered a symbol of resistance and political change.
