UN, February 4 /Xinhua/ — UN Secretary-General António Guterres is concerned about the consequences of the new US oil embargo against Cuba, his spokesman, Stéphane Dujarric, said at a daily briefing on Wednesday.
“The Secretary-General is extremely concerned about the humanitarian situation in Cuba, which will worsen, or even lead to collapse, if the country’s oil needs are not met,” said S. Dujarric.
A. Guterres noted that for more than three decades, the UN General Assembly has consistently called for an end to the US embargo against Cuba and urges all parties to continue dialogue and respect international law, the press secretary said.
S. Dujarric added that the UN is cooperating with the Cuban government to find ways to improve the situation. –0–
